GMAT Format (Updated – GMAT Focus Edition, 2024)

The GMAT Focus Edition introduces a shorter, more relevant, and efficient format designed for modern business school applicants.

Test Structure

Total Duration: 2 hours 15 minutes

Sections & Time

  • Quantitative Reasoning (45 minutes): Problem-solving, Data interpretation (no geometry, no calculator)

  • Verbal Reasoning (45 minutes): Reading comprehension, Critical reasoning

  • Data Insights (45 minutes): Combines data interpretation, logic puzzles, integrated reasoning

Additional Notes:

  • The essay section has been removed in the Focus Edition

  • Candidates can now choose section order and review questions before submission

  • Scores remain valid for 5 years

Scoring System

Scores range from 205–805 in 10-point increments.

Percentile & Competitiveness:

  • Top 25% (645–690): Strong profile for top 30–50 B-Schools

  • Average Range (545–640): Suitable for mid-tier international MBAs
